Frequently Asked Questions

  • What if other drivers in the course are more experienced than me?
At Dirt Africa, we recognize that every driver progresses at their own pace. If other participants in your class happen to have more experience or skills, our instructors are adept at facilitating a supportive learning environment for all. They will tailor their guidance to ensure that each driver receives the attention and techniques they need to improve, regardless of their starting point. Whether you're learning the basics or refining advanced techniques, our instructors are committed to helping you achieve your rally driving goals effectively and confidently.
  • Do you teach first-time drivers?
Absolutely! At Dirt Africa, we welcome drivers of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned professionals.
  • Will i be driving with an instructor?
Yes! Dirt Africa prides itself on its attention to detail and giving valuable lessons and feedback. You will always be accompanied by an instructor while driving to ensure instant feedback and guidance.
  • What will happen in my lessons?
This varies from class to class and person to person. Our beginners first undergo rigorous discussions and teaching so that they can feel confident when getting behind the wheel for the first time. After this they will get behind the wheel and run through a series of exercise to ensure they are confident in the car. For more advanced learners, our courses can be adjusted to account for specific shortcomings and problems in their skillset.
  • How many people will be in my class?
At Dirt Africa we want to be able to give all our learners the proper attention. No more than 10 students are allowed to sign up for a class and multiple instructors will be present to facilitate the students.
  • Will my class be postponed on account of bad weather?
Absolutely not! Rally driving is about being adaptable under all sorts of conditions. We at Dirt Africa want to give our students well-rounded exposure to all sorts of possible scenarios. We say, "The wetter, the better!"
  • Do I get my own car?
No, we pair up our learners by car. Once you have had some time in the car you will be asked to get out while the other person rides. During this time students will be able to engage with their instructors and get feedback from outside the car.
  • Are their age restrictions?
We only open our classes to people above the age of 18 with valid driver's licenses.
  • Is there a dress code?
Not particularly. Make sure you are comfortable, warm and in clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. We supply our drivers with helmets and all other necessary safety gear.
  • Can I bring a friend or family member to watch?
Yes. We allow one guest per student. Any more, risk our driver's getting distracted.
  • Do you offer corporate/ team-building programs?
Yes. When it comes to corporate outings or team-building exercises, we want to work with you to customise the perfect experience for you and your work colleagues. Call us to discuss the details.
  • I am not from the area, do you have accommodation options?
Yes. We are partnered with a few comfortable locations available for rent during the course of your program. See our Lodging Partners page for more details.
  • Are the classes mostly comprised of men?
Usually this is the case. However we are working tirelessly to provide an environment where people of all genders are welcome to get behind the wheel and learn. We believe in equal opportunities and will facilitate all who enquire.
