ISO 14000 Certification
ISO 14000 refers to a family of standards including ISO14001, 14004, 14005 among others. These standards can help organizations deal with environmental issues such as reducing raw material use, reduce energy consumption, improve efficiency and reduce waste. In this family, ISO 14001:2004 can be certified against.
The ISO 14001 standard deals with the environmental management system requirements, ISO 14004 gives guidelines on principles and support techniques and 14005 gives guidelines for phased implementation for an environmental management system and includes the use of environmental performance evaluation.
Third party certifying bodies will certify companies to the current version of ISO 140001.

Does ‘zero’ really mean zero waste goes to landfill?
Even with the most efficient systems in place, some materials are inevitably sent to landfill at some point downstream of the waste treatment. For example, energy recovery will lead to the production of residual waste in the form of ash. And some regulated hazardous substances must be sent to landfill, because there are no other legally permitted alternative waste treatment methods.
​
There is also the issue of fraud in waste management. This may mean that even the best of intentions, some part of an organisation’s waste may end up in landfill without its knowledge. Although to mitigate the risk of fraud, businesses should choose good quality waste management partners and conduct regular audits.
But for all practical purposes, the fact that some waste may end up in a landfill should not distract organisations seeking to achieve zero waste to landfill. Where this is inevitable or unavoidable, it can be accepted as an inherent part of a zero waste to landfill claim.

Setting the goal of becoming zero waste to landfill gives companies a great starting point for continually improving their waste management. It sets a new baseline on the waste hierarchy, driving the implementation of data collection and internal processes that ultimately move a business towards a more circular use of resources.
However, claims of zero waste to landfill need to be credible. Our experience at the Carbon Trust is that the rigour of the definition used can vary quite considerably between organisations. So seeking independent verification should be a serious consideration for businesses that want to be seen as truly sustainable.

FAT TRAP SERVICING
Drain Clean 24 offers internal plumbing consultation for all new fat traps required – Supply, Install and Service fat traps according to the City of Cape Towns By-laws.

Drain Clean 24 is licensed to remove and dispose of fat and provide Waste Transfer Certificates for inspection as per Waste water By-Law, Chapter 1, Section 3: Protection of Municipal Sewers.

DRAIN MAPPING
Drain Clean 24 prides itself on becoming the leader in underground pipeline diagnostics – all drainage and stormwater pipework can be tracked, traced and mapped in order to create new diagrams for the client’s needs when as-built drawings aren’t always available

In order to ensure we locate, assess and address any and all blockages quickly and effectively, we employ the latest CCTV drain camera technology. We’re able to map and identify any breaks, cracks or blockages within a system without compromising the pipe structure. This allows us the ability to give our clients the best advice with regards to a repair, be it traditionally or with Trenchless Technology.

CCTV Cameras also allow us to assess the general condition of a structure’s drainage system so we can prevent issues from occurring in future.
LINE LOCATION
Using Sonde locating equipment Drain Clean 24 finds unmarked pipelines running under buildings as well as manholes that have been built over. The teams identify where the pipeline starts and ends as well as how deep the pipeline runs underground.
Due to the ever changing landscape of our city, municipal information is often outdated, which can make finding a pipe or manhole difficult. This is where we employ CCTV Line Location.
We use a transmitter and receiver to identify lost or built over manholes or pipelines. We also utilise CCTV Line Location to pinpoint exactly where a blockage is located quickly and accurately, allowing us to know what lies beneath the surface without having to excavate the area, which makes for less physical damage and faster repairs.
PIPE LINE INSPECTIONS
Drain Clean 24 conducts integrated pipeline inspections with all Drain cleaning call-outs – This service gives the teams the ability to clearly identify problematics sections of pipework as well as any other issues within the pipeline such as corrosion, scale build-up or root intrusion that may be causing constant blockages.

Our CCTV Camera inspection equipment allows for clear, accurate assessment and diagnosis of piping preventing any expensive or unnecessary chopping or digging.

The footage can be recorded for insurance claims or reporting purposes, as well as informing how best our expert staff can maintain and repair any pre-existing plumbing with either traditional repair or trenchless pipe relining.

PLANNED PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
Commercial establishments typically require frequent high-pressure water jetting of drains to remove mineral deposits, grease build-up, sludge and debris. We work with clients to create a Drain Cleaning Service Agreement that keeps your drains flowing freely, preventing potential downtime and loss of income.
ROOT AND RUBBLE EXTRACTION
Root intrusion is a major cause of problematic underground pipework – Drain Clean 24 drills, chops, and grinds all root growth within the piping system, coupled with their CCTV inspection system guarantees that all problems are identified and repaired within the piping system.

We utilise cutting edge rotary and cable equipment to access, breakdown and remove complex root-logged systems without compromising the existing plumbing structures. This allows us to remove blockages quickly and effectively.

Construction sites constantly have blocked pipework over the period of the project due to cement and other building materials falling into the lines – Drain Clean 24 uses high torque specialized drilling equipment to crush, drill and remove the debris blocking the lines while using the latest in CCTV pipe inspection equipment.
